Bangkok Blue - Siamese Twins
The music of Blue Johnson's "Siamese
Twins" was written for the 27 week, award-winning Thailand television
docudrama series depicting the life and history of Eng & Chang, the
world's original Siamese Twins. It is a Minimalistic- Jazz - New Age - World
Music attempt at blending the sampled and synthesized sounds of modern electronic
instruments together with the ancient acoustic classical instruments of
old Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. Written, arranged, performed and recorded
by Blue, "Siamese Twins" was inspired by old Thai and Cambodian
folk and classical songs. The music is a combination of Moods connected
to Modes - East connected to West - Old connected to New - Physical connected
to Spiritual..... thus symbolizing the cross-cultural lives and physically
connected bodies of the twins who immigrated from Thailand (then called
Siam) in the early 1800's and eventually settled in America. "Siamese
Twins" received a Best Score Award nomination from Thailand's highly
respected Golden TV Awards, and the video series has been accepted as an
educational tool in Thailand's school systems. The television series won
the Best Docudrama Award and was produced by Kantana TV and Film Studios
in Bangkok, Thailand. This CD features several of Blue's musician friends:
Michael Paulo on saxes, Clifford Coulter on synthesizer and David Garfield
on keys and the Thai-Cambodian Ensemble on traditional classical acoustic
instruments. The CD can be purchased at Bangkok Blue Thai Restaurant.

Bangkok Blue - Tribal
Roots
Tribal roots is lovingly referred to as being "Triple
A" World Music (Asian-African-American). Also written,
arranged, performed and recorded by Blue Johnson, "Tribal Roots"
features Blue's son, Ming (at 14 years old) on drums and keyboards. Together,
father and son co-wrote and arranged two songs on this CD and it also features
along with Blue & Ming, an all-star cast of Blue's musician friends:
Michael Paulo on saxes, June Kuramoto (from the famed jazz group, Hiroshima)
on koto, David Garfield on keys, Karen Hwa-Chee Han on Chinese Er-Hu, and
Clifford Coulter on synthesizer. This CD is meant to musically represent
Ming Johnson's Thai-Chinese, African-American ancestry and family heritage.
Ming's roots come from two of the oldest and most primitive races on the
planet, thus the title: "Tribal Roots". This CD also features
"Song for Sensei", dedicated to Shorinji Kempo Master, and Zen
Buddhist priest, Rev. Toshio Kuramoto (Blue, Ming & Joyce's martial
arts teacher). The CD also contains Blue's instrumental version of the World
Shorinji Kempo theme song, "Deep Within Each Man". This CD can
also be purchased at Bangkok Blue Thai restaurant.
